DISCLAIMER: The Doohickeys are not dating. They’re just friends.

The Doohickeys consists of singing and writing duo Haley Spence Brown & Jack Hackett. Haley grew up in Liberty, Missouri, helping train horses and spending time on her grandpa’s cattle farm. Jack grew up in a strict Japanese-American household in Atlanta, Georgia where you had to take your shoes off at the door (everything else was pretty lax).

Although they have country roots, the duo met at USC (FIGHT ON!) while working on the college TV station’s satirical news show. On one fateful evening, Jack was hosting a legendary week-after-Halloween party when Haley heard the sounds of Kenny Chesney echoing through the spookily decorated halls. Right then, they discovered their mutual love of country music. The next day, instead of sitting down to write a sketch, they wrote the song I Wish My Truck Was Bigger.

The pair is now gearing up to release their first record All Hat No Cattle (January 24, 2025) produced by two-time Grammy® nominee, Eric Corne. Since launching their promotional content in June 2024, The Doohickeys have quickly gained traction, amassing over 15 million views and 60.4k followers on Instagram. On TikTok, they've racked up more than 8 million views and 33.2k followers, solidifying their presence across social media platforms. Their music video for “Rein It In Cowboy” won The American Songwriter music video contest, and their song “All Hat, No Cattle” was honorably mentioned in the May/June edition of the magazine. Their song “This Town Sucks” earned an award for Outstanding Songwriting in the 2023 Great American Song Contest.

"AEA microphones make us look cooler than we are! Upon playback we were immediately stunned by the clarity and realism of DSD. We’re a loud band, so the format handled the dynamics of live playing very well." Jack Hackett
